Wild Beasts - Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants

The second single to be taken from Wild Beasts' debut album Limbo, Panto (available now) washes out the mouth and dunks the head through its utter jiving urgency, reeling rhythms and soft-on-the-outside-hard-on-the-inside vocals. As happy go lucky as the bingo hall from which it was born, this winner is a one off

Max Tundra - Will Get Fooled Again

On 29 September 2008 Max Tundra is to release a new single called Will Get Fooled Again. Available on 7 vinyl and digital download, the track is lifted off Maxs forthcoming third album and first for 6 years, Parallax Error Beheads You, which, released on October 13, sees Max cram more ideas into the albums 41 minutes than most bands manage in their whole career. With the title track sounding like McFly orbiting the earth, the real surprise comes with the choice of B side, a cover of Rogers and Hammersteins Sound of Musics So Long Farewell, which had the following effect on Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy, ex-Arcade Fire and Last Shadow Puppets arranger): Max and I met in Barcelona in 2005 at Primavera Sound. His slot was at 4am. He put on a mask, wrapped himself up in tape, and played forty minutes of music made mostly using Amiga sample tracker software from the late 1980s. There was virtuosic melodica playing, Pointer Sisters-style singing, and an eight-minute version of So Long, Farewell from The Sound Of Music. I was wasted and ended up passing out on a beach in my underwear. When the sun rose, I woke up with dried merengue and sand glued to my hair, and in a daze, I realized that I had just witnessed nothing less than the best music performance of my life

Tricky - Council Estate

The first single from Tricky's forthcoming album Knowle West Boy. Council Estate is just me... that song is the upbringing me and friends had. It's the first single I've ever done with just me on vocals. I couldn't whisper that song. I had to come out of myself and do a loud, screaming vocal. I wanted to be a proper frontman on that one.' --Tricky on Council Estate
